  • International Journal of Solids and Structures

    • ISSN: 0020-7683
The International Journal of Solids and Structures has as its objective the publication and dissemination of original research in Mechanics of Solids and Structures as a field of Applied Science and Engineering. It fosters thus the exchange of ideas among workers in different parts of the world and also among workers who emphasize different aspects of the foundations and applications of the field.Standing as it does at the cross-roads of Materials Science, the physical Sciences, insightful Mathematics, and advanced Engineering, the Mechanics of Solids and Structures is experiencing considerable growth, in part as a result of recent technological advances. The Journal, an international medium of communication, encourages and fosters this growth by encompassing articles in all branches of fields that use mechanics to solve problems, ranging from fundamental physical, mathematical, and numerical aspects to the more applied. We aim always for the new, novel and original, substantive, inventive and enduring. Problems in linear and nonlinear material behavior and failure and on the response and failure of structures form the backbone of the journal covering both traditional and more modern aspects: included are inelastic material and structural behavior, instability and localization in solids and structures, mechanics of soft and biological materials and structures, micro- and nano-mechanics, architected and lattice structures, smart materials and structures, and multi-physics problems. Works in related fields such as heat transfer, wave propagation, modal analysis, optimization, concrete and geological materials, and the development of numerical methods are now supported by dedicated journals, but will be considered provided they are of broad interest and represent significant progress. Articles that make intelligent and insightful use of AI to enhance or supplement, but not replace, the laws of physics will be welcome.Emphasis is placed on contributions, analytical, experimental and numerical, which appear to be of permanent interest to research workers and engineers in the field. Papers that are merely illustrations of established principles and procedures, or either design oriented or geometry-specific, even though possibly containing new numerical or experimental data, will generally not be published. When outstanding advances are made in existing areas, or when new areas have been developed to a definitive stage, special review articles will be considered by the Editors. No length limitations for contributions are set, but only concisely written papers are published. Brief articles are considered on the basis of technical merit. Discussions of previously published papers are welcome. We expect submitted articles to be authored by the researchers themselves. While the use of Generative AI tools like ChatGPT is permitted to enhance the readability and language of the manuscript, it must be clearly declared in a statement at the end of the manuscript upon initial submission. Papers that do not meet this requirement will not be considered and may be returned without review.https://www.s...

  • Cognition

    • ISSN: 0010-0277
International Journal of Cognitive ScienceCognition is an international journal that publishes theoretical and experimental papers on the study of the mind. It covers a wide variety of subjects concerning all the different aspects of cognition, ranging from experimental studies of behavior and of the brain to formal analysis.Papers will be selected on the basis of their scientific quality, their degree of innovation and their unambiguous theoretical advance to the study of cognition. Paper's overall soundness of the argument and degree of empirical motivation, especially from converging sources, are more important than adherence to specific methodological principles. Studies that selectively focus on the cognitive and neural mechanisms that underlie problems with cognition in clinical populations or on purely methodological questions fall outside the scope of Cognition. Because Cognition enjoys a wide readership from many disciplines, authors should explicitly consider the general theoretical issues raised by their work and its relevance to other topics and methods. Materials should describe work done and methods used in a clear and explicit manner (allowing reproduction of the methods by others).

  • International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping

    • ISSN: 0308-0161
Design, Manufacture and Operation of Pressurised Components; Structural Integrity; Plant Life ManagementPressure vessel engineering technology is of importance in many branches of industry. This journal publishes the latest research results and related information on all its associated aspects, with particular emphasis on the structural integrity assessment, maintenance and life extension of pressurised process engineering plants. The anticipated coverage of the International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping ranges from simple mass-produced pressure vessels to large custom-built vessels and tanks. Pressure vessels technology is a developing field, and contributions on the following topics will therefore be welcome: • Pressure vessel engineering • Structural integrity assessment • Design methods • Codes and standards • Fabrication, welding, and emerging advanced manufacturing processes, e.g., additive manufacturing (AM) • Fabrication and welding • Materials properties requirements • Inspection and quality management • Maintenance and life extension • Ageing and environmental effects • Life management • Application of machine learning to pressure vessels technologyOf particular importance are papers covering aspects of significant practical application which could lead to major improvements in economy, reliability and useful life. While most accepted papers represent the results of original applied research, critical reviews of topical interest by world-leading experts will also appear from time to time.International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping is indispensable reading for engineering professionals involved in the energy, petrochemicals, process plant, transport, aerospace and related industries; for manufacturers of pressure vessels and ancillary equipment; and for academics pursuing research in these areas.Note to the authors:The journal only accepts papers studying fluid dynamics if they have included fluid-solid interaction.
  • NDT & E International

    • ISSN: 0963-8695
NDT&E international publishes peer-reviewed original research on non-destructive testing and evaluation (NDT&E) for the assessment of the structural integrity of engineering structures. The journal covers the established NDT&E sensing modalities of ultrasonics, electromagnetics, radiography as well as optical and thermal methods. The journal also covers research on new NDT&E techniques, and novel applications of established methods. In all cases, the focus should be on the physics and engineering science of the inspection method or application. The expectation is that any modelling or simulation is accompanied by experimental evidence. The journal covers all application areas in which NDT&E is used including, mechanical, aerospace and civil structures. Other novel application areas are considered where a close link to either traditional applications or techniques can be shown. Application-focused studies should go beyond being examples of best practice and include clear novel features and have wider implications. Whilst NDT&E most commonly relates to periodic inspections, long-term monitoring scenarios are also considered. The journal considers contributions on novel signal processing and data analysis methods where they can be demonstrated to enhance NDT&E applications. Machine learning is now an accepted tool for the analysis of NDT data. Hence, whilst papers that use machine learning are considered, its use must go beyond best practice and should fundamentally advance the field of NDT. In doing this we would expect the work to include consideration of the physics and engineering science of the inspection problem. The journal publishes a small number of review submissions, typically by invitation, with initial enquiries to the Editor-in Chief.
