BBA Molecular and Cell Biology of Lipids publishes papers on original research dealing with novel aspects of lipid biology including the biosynthesis, degradation, and transport of lipids, the role of lipids and the lipidome in cells and whole organisms, and the regulation of lipid metabolism and function in normative health and disease states.Manuscripts should significantly advance the understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying biological processes in which lipids are involved using biochemical, biophysical, cell and molecular biological, genetic, or physiological approaches. BBA Proteins and Proteomics covers protein structure conformation and dynamics; protein folding; protein-ligand interactions; enzyme mechanisms, models and kinetics; protein physical properties and spectroscopy; and proteomics and bioinformatics analyses of protein structure, protein function, or protein regulation.The journal no longer considers manuscripts dealing with binding of compounds such as drugs or drug analogues to circulatory proteins such as serum albumin. These studies are better accommodated in journals dealing with drug design and development.Manuscripts must advance our insights into the molecular and mechanistic properties of proteins. Computational studies must generally be validated or complemented by experimental studies. Studies only consisting of computational work will not be considered unless they provide new theoretical insight that allows us to better understand or reinterpret surprising or unexpected experimental data.Comparative proteomics studies are generally not considered for review unless they provide specific insights into the structural and/or functional properties of individual proteins. Proteomics studies must also address properties of individual proteins and should as far as possible be validated by direct investigations of relevant identified proteins.Concise and comprehensive reviews of recent developments are considered for publication. An International Journal devoted to the Physics and Chemistry of Biological PhenomenaBiophysical Chemistry publishes original work and reviews in the areas of chemistry and physics directly impacting biological phenomena. Quantitative analysis of the properties of biological macromolecules, biologically active molecules, macromolecular assemblies and cell components in terms of kinetics, thermodynamics, spatio-temporal organization, NMR and X-ray structural biology, as well as single-molecule detection represent a major focus of the journal. Theoretical and computational treatments of biomacromolecular systems, macromolecular interactions, regulatory control and systems biology are also of interest to the journal.The journal publishes Regular Articles, Reviews, Short Communications (maximum of 4 printed pages), Discussion and Feature Articles. Feature Articles are normally by Editor's invitation only, but interested authors can contact the Editors before submission. Author(s) will be asked to focus on her/his recent research contributions, thereby adding a personal perspective to their field of research. These short reviews will include the authors' photo and a brief bio/CV and will have a page limit of 5 printed pages in print.Manuscripts that fall outside the scopes and interests of the journal are returned to the Authors without in-depth review. Relevant manuscripts are reviewed expeditiously with decisions generally made within 3 weeks from receipt. Short Communications are 6 printed pages maximum, reporting results of unusual timeliness and significance. Decisions on Short Communications are made within 1-2 weeks from receipt and publication is offered only to manuscripts requiring minor revision.
