En effet, l’évaluation catégorielle des troubles de la personnalité a montré ses limites au profit d’une approche dimensionnelle. Le modèle alternatif du DSM-5-TR et la CIM-11 retiennent chacun cinq domaines de traits de personnalité pathologique. Quatre de ces domaines sont comparables et représentent des versants pathologiques des Big Five. Ils divergent sur la cinquième dimension (psychoticisme versus anankastie).
